Happy Fantastic Friday everyone! I just thought I’d share this cute little story I found on Variety Reading today. Enjoy!
A little girl walked to and from school daily. Though the weather that morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to the elementary school. As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up along with thunder and lightning. The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school, and she herself feared that the electrical storm might harm her child.
Following the roar of thunder, lightning, like a flaming sword, would cut through the sky. Full of concern, the mother quickly got into her car and drove along the route to her child’s school. As she did so, she saw her little girl walking along, but at each flash of lightning, the child would stop, look up and smile. Another and another were to follow quickly, and with each, the little girl would look at the streak of light and smile.
When the mother’s car drove up beside the child, she lowered the window and called to her.
“What are you doing? Why do you keep stopping?”
The child answered, “I am trying to look pretty; God keeps taking my picture.”
May God bless you today as you face the storms that come your way.
There was a turbulent period in my life where I lived in a world of self-pity and I constantly complained to the Lord whenever led to do for others. Tearful, I would beg: “Why do You always ask me to bless others? Don’t You see MY pain? Can’t You bless ME too?” God’s Holy Spirit then answered me with this: “In order to bless others through you – I had to have blessed YOU first.”
What a humbling lesson! He showed me by helping others: 1) It took the focus off me, and 2) Taught me about selfishness. Remember, there are always those less fortunate than ourselves. Yet out of gratitude to our Lord, we should be willing to share the blessings He provides us – whether our lot in life is plenty or paltry. So let’s give, my peeps! God bless!
“So we can say with confidence the Lord is my Helper. So I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?”
(Hebrews 13:6) Remember, he who is the creator of the universe always has your back – no matter who or what comes up against you. Isn’t that awesome to know? Have a fantastically blessed and awesome day today!
