hgnHave you ever heard the saying “You can’t judge a book by its cover.” Or “Everything that glitters ain’t gold.” These phrases tell us not to form an acceptable opinion or come to a conclusion so quickly about people or things. Instead we need to allow time to look a little deeper because everything is not always as it appears.

In fact it’s safe to say that with people most of the time what you see is not always what you get. Even those preaching teaching and prophesying in Jesus name. How do we know those who are authentic? The bible tells us that we will know them by their fruits. Not by how often they know and throw scripture or the fact that the can pray down heaven, prophesy in Jesus name, give signs and wonders so to speak or even the fact that they they’re a bible toting John 3:16 wearing billboard for the masses. It doesn’t matter what they say or look like but what does matter is what they do, their actions and how they live their lives.

Matthew 7:16-18 (KJV)

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits . Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

jbhjkWe have Gods word that tells us how to identify those with false identities.  Jesus let’s us know without a doubt that we will know them by their fruit. It’s what is produced in the life of individuals that will reveal their true nature. There are times we will identify the fruit immediately because it smells, its rotten and bad to the taste.  However there are fruits produced that seem to be so sweet, the appearance is just about perfect and it comes off so tempting to taste that you can possible be fooled into thinking it’s all good. But that’s false identity. Keep in mind regardless of what is being said or how good, wholesome and spiritual one may appear fruit from their tree will eventually produce in time and the deception will no longer be concealed. Bad trees cannot produce genuinely good fruit even though it may look beautiful, well-grown and good for you.  And good fruit cannot produce bad. It’s our responsibility to be aware and stay in tune with God and His word so that we may be able to clearly discern the difference and not be deceived by wolves in sheep’s clothing, false prophets or anyone else that tries to deter us from our walk with the Lord.

Finally, self inspections are also needed. Taking watch over our own soul is very important that’s why it is imperative that we stay fully connected to the True Vine producing good fruit ourselves because we are all known by our fruit. What fruit are you bearing?
